Nature Sanctuary
The 140 acre Nature Sanctuary is currently owned by Woodland Alliance but
will become the property of all members someday. In the meantime the
Sanctuary is maintained on a shared basis by Woodland Alliance and our
Association
The Sanctuary is available to members of the Association. It is not a public
sanctuary.
There is one long trail and other, shorter ones. There are trail markers and a
few picnic benches.
The first 1/8 mile leading into the trails is landscaped and easy to traverse,
even for people with a mobility handicap. The remainder is cleared but more
natural and walkers are urged to wear boots or good walking shoes. There is
some climbing over rocks, and a few areas that can result in wet and dirty
shoes. Of course, snowshoes are appropriate for Winter walking. The long
trail can be traversed in 3/4 hour in Summer but if one stops to enjoy the
various scenic spots, take some pictures or just rest a while, a couple of
hours can go by.
It would be advisable to hike with a friend or carry a cellphone when
traversing the trails.
